Ballerinas will not have to point their toes to travel miles to buy their tutus after a new shop has opened in Wisbech.

Customers are travelling from Leicester and Milton Keynes to use Sheila Beelam’s Just Ballet store in Hill Street.

Mrs Beelam already runs a successful Just Ballet store in Southend but decided to branch out after moving to the town earlier this year.

Although the shop was officially opened on Saturday by deputy mayor Gary Tibbs, customers had been tapping on the door throughout last week.

Mrs Beelam said: “I’m really pleased with the response. So many people have come in to say how nice it is and an interesting shop for Wisbech.

“I think Wisbech is a lovely town and has really respected its lovely architecture. All the local businesses have welcomed us and I think the town has a lot going for it.”

Mrs Beelam has spent a couple of thousand pounds transforming the shop.

Just Ballet stocks a range of unique brands, along with bespoke tutus.

Mrs Beelam, an accountant, said: “We are right opposite the toy shop and a lot of children have been going past and admiring the window. Hopefully children who have not been exposed to ballet before will be inspired to try it.”

Mrs Beelam, who moved with her family from Southend in July, has signed up for the local adult classes.
