Voting by proxy in the Cambridgeshire County Council and mayoral elections? Deadline to apply is fast approaching
With local elections just around the corner, find out some key information ahead of the voting day.
The elections will be taking place in Cambridgeshire on Thursday, May 1. If you are unable to get to a polling station, you can nominate someone to cast your vote for you – a proxy. You will need to have applied to vote by proxy by 5pm on Wednesday.
More information on how to apply is available on your district council’s website, and you can find out more on the Electoral Commission website.
On May 1, people will have the opportunity to vote for their local county councillor in Cambridgeshire and for the next directly elected mayor for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
Voting is the way to shape the future of the community in which we live.
Important decisions about Cambridgeshire’s 2,784 miles of highways, 1,824 miles of footpaths, more than 200 schools, 33 libraries, and 8,304 adults who use our long-term adult social care and support services, are made by the county council – so by voting in the county council elections, your voice is heard on key issues such as these.
Those taking part in the election will need to show a photo ID to vote at polling stations.
