Fenland logistics firm Knowles is continuing its expansion with an investment in five new DAF XGs
One of the area’s largest logistics firms has added five new tractor units to its fleet.
Knowles Logistics, which has sites in Wimblington and Wisbech, has recently taken delivery of five DAF XG 480 tractor units.
These new trucks are being added to the fleet during a time of growth, aimed at improving operational efficiency and will help increase the company’s capacity, adding to a fleet of 160 trucks and 220 trailers.
The trucks were supplied by DAF Trucks dealer Ford and Slater Wisbech and are equipped with PACCAR MX-13 engines that deliver 480 horsepower. The XG cabs come with a comprehensive aero kit, including deflectors, fenders, and side skirts, which enhance aerodynamic performance, reduce drag, and maximize fuel economy.
Alex Knowles, managing director at Knowles Logistics, said: “We are delighted to have taken delivery of our DAF XG 480 tractor units, which have been purchased to cater to the company’s growth in recent years. Over the decades we have always looked to commit significant investment to the best equipment to support both our drivers and our customers.
“The DAF trucks are designed for two things, operational efficiency and comfort, which means our drivers can enjoy a safer, more comfortable driving experience, while we benefit from their performance and fuel savings. We are on a continuing journey to drive down emissions and ultimately want vehicles that will make a positive contribution to our sustainability goals and these DAF trucks align perfectly with this commitment.”
One month on from the purchase and Alex added: “The new XG’s have been received very well by our drivers and the fuel efficiency has been impressive”
