Last post for Parson Drove couple

A sub-postmaster has passed the parcel on to two new faces.

Patricia Everitt and her husband John have been taking letters and parcels over the counter of Parson Drove Post Office for the past 12 years.

The couple had moved to the Fenland village from Saudi Arabia in 2003. Mr Everitt had been an examiner at the technical training institute.

They are now looking forward to retirement and an eventual move north.

Mrs Everitt said: “We have enjoyed our time here and met some lovely people. We have made some wonderful friends.

“We will miss the people and the conversation.

“The time has flown by.”

The Post Office serves not just Parson Drove but has customers from Thorney, Gedney Hill, Murrow and Ring’s End.

Mr and Mrs Everitt will remain in this area for a few months but plan to move to Beverley, in Yorkshire, and eventually Ribble Valley, in Lancashire.

The couple have now handed the baton on to Jayne and Phil Redman.
