'Lazy' Outwell driver banned again

An Outwell motorist has received another disqualification for driving while banned.

Colin Budden was pulled over in Church Drove, not far from his home in Wisbech Road.

The 29-year-old bricklayer told police that he was “lazy” and knew he should have walked the short distance to the shop.

King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday that Budden had been disqualified from driving for eight months in September 2020.

He had also been banned for two years in March 2017 for dangerous driving.

Budden pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and having no insurance in the incident on April 28, 2021.

In mitigation, solicitor Hugh Cauthery said his client’s father had died that day and Budden hadn’t been thinking straight.

Mr Cauthery said the defendant had been banned from driving initially for drink-driving in 2010 and then stayed out of trouble until trying to outrun the police in 2017.

Budden was disqualified for four months and fined £240 for each of the two offences. He was also ordered to pay £105 and £34 victim surcharge.
