Leader of Wisbech Town Council recognises recent events and thanks town mayor for his efforts

During the Wisbech Town Council meeting, the leader acknowledged a ‘good few weekends’.

Cllr Samantha Hoy discussed some events in the town that have been a hit with residents and how it was nice to attend one without being the organiser.

She said: “It has been quite a good few weekends. We have had some things happening that were not all organised by us.”

She said it was nice just to be able to turn up on Sunday to the Easter tree decorating event that the Lithuanian community organised.

During the council meeting, Cllr Hoy also mentioned how successful some recent markets have been in town.

She said: “The farmers' fair we had and the minis on the marketplace went very well, and the council is keen to continue doing them again.

“Things seem to be running quite smoothly.”

During the meeting, she congratulated the mayor of Wisbech, Cllr Sidney Imafidon, for his time in the role.

She said: “Well done, it is not easy being mayor. It is difficult, and you are in the public limelight, and it does take a lot of time, but you have done it very well and have promoted the town really well.”
