Leaking roof forces Fenland cinema to close

A Fenland cinema was forced to close its doors and evacuate customers after yesterday's (Tuesday) heavy rainfall caused water to leak through the roof.

The Light Cinema has posted on social media to say it will remain closed until further notice after water leaked into one of the screens and is urging customers to get in touch if they have tickets booked.

It said: "Sadly we're closed until further notice. If you have a booking with us over the next few days please email help@thelight.co.uk and our team will be able to rearrange it for you."

However, the management has been criticised for failing to give any more details or an estimate of how long The Light, which is located on Cromwell Road will remain shut.

But one of those who was in the cinema yesterday posted on its Facebook page and said: "Thanks to all of your terrific staff for evacuating us and processing refunds so promptly.

"Safety comes first, I'll be back to see the end of the movie as soon as you're open again."

Another added: "The roof started leaking in one of the screens during the downpour earlier - I doubt they'll be closed for more than a couple of days but they'll have to get it checked properly for the sake of customer safety."
