Learn about Littleport riots of 1816 at March Museum talk in St Peter's Church Hall

Did you know that almost 200 years ago, an alcohol-fuelled riot broke out in Fenland?

Susanah Farmer will be hosting a talk on the Littleport Riots of 1816 at St Peter’s Church Hall in March on Friday, May 9.

Starting at 7.30pm, the event will look at the historic moment that a group of residents met in The Globe – a pub that stood on Main Street - and decided they had had enough of the poverty and starvation faced after the Napoleonic Wars.

The uproar eventually led to the execution of five men, as well as the imprisonment and transportation of many others.

Entry costs £4 or £3 for museum society members with refreshments included.
