Tarina Jones excited with Long Sutton Library set to reopen in May after roof repair works
Long Sutton Library is set to reopen after repair works to its roof are completed.
Works have been been ongoing since December, with a click and collect service operating since then.
This service will end at 1pm on Saturday, May 7. The library will then be closed for two weeks whilst associated internal works are completed, all scaffolding at the site is safely removed and staff return library furniture and stock ready for the reopening. On Monday, May 23, the library will open its doors to the public again.
Library manager Tarina Jones said: “It’s important at the moment because a lot of people are suffering with mental health issues and we have a lot of loneliness in the community, especially with older people.
“Libraries aren’t just about books anymore – we are classed as safe spaces.”
Lincolnshire county councillor Lindsey Cawrey, executive member for libraries, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming members and visitors back to Long Sutton Library; thank you for bearing with us whilst we carried out these repairs.”
