Trial of Wisbech murder suspect David Newton set to continue on Monday as defence witnesses to give evidence.
The trial of a man who denies murdering an 86-year-old widow in her own home will continue next week.
It was expected that the case of David Newton, 70, of Magazine Close in Wisbech, would resume today after a two-day hiatus in which the judge has been ruling on defence hearsay applications.
However, this took longer than expected and the defence for Newton will now start presenting their case on Monday.
Crown prosecutor John Price KC finished reading evidence against Newton on Tuesday.
Summonsed witnesses will appear on Monday to give live evidence for the defence.
Mrs Crown’s body was found by a family member on January 13, 2013. She had been stabbed multiple times to the neck and chest and her body had been set on fire.
