Man arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with disappearance of Lithuanian man
A man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a Lithuanian man from Wisbech.
The 31-year-old man from Wisbech was arrested on suspicion of murder this morning (Wednesday, December 16) and is currently in custody at the PIC in Kings Lynn.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit are now leading the investigation into the disappearance of Ricardas Puisys.
Ricardas (35) was reportedly last at his place of work at Nightlayer Leek Company, in Dean Drove, Iretons Way, Chatteris, on September 26, and colleagues and friends are concerned they have not seen or heard from him since this date. Despite a public appeal to find him in November police have been unable to trace him.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Brunning said: “While I remain hopeful that we will find Ricardas, due to the length of time he has been missing, coupled with the unexpected nature of his disappearance, we are now treating his disappearance as suspicious.
“If you have spoken to Ricardas since this September 26 or know of his whereabouts, please contact us immediately. I am particularly keen to speak to those people from the Lithuanian community who would have worked with Ricardas at the Nightlayer Leek Company.
“I need to learn as much as I can about his lifestyle in Wisbech and also the people he would have spent time with, either through work or socially.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crime Unit police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or via their online reporting system www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
