Sutton Bridge man Arron Ross caught drug-driving after urinating at BP garage in Heacham
A 33-year-old was caught drug-driving after stopping to urinate behind a BP garage.
Arron Ross, of Royal Close, Sutton Bridge, appeared at King's Lynn Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with driving his Ford Mondeo while the proportion of cocaine in his system was above the legal limit.
Prosecuting, Hannah Butler said police had been undertaking routine patrols at 1.25am on September 1 last year when they spotted Ross driving.
They witnessed him pull in behind a BP garage on the A149 in Heacham before relieving himself.
He delivered a positive roadside alcohol breath test and admitted to having consumed two drinks, and subsequently complied with all further tests when arrested and taken to a station.
Those revealed that he had 51mcg of cocaine per litre of blood in his system, with the legal limit being 10mcg.
Appearing unrepresented, Ross - who pleaded guilty - told magistrates he had been driving his sister home from a night out at the time.
He said he cancelled his insurance and got rid of his car following the offence.
Ross added: "I'm still working on dealing with my problems so, yep, it is what it is.
"I thought I was okay to drive but I wasn't."
Ross was handed a 12-month driving ban by magistrates, who were led by Ginny Hutton.
They also ordered him to pay a £120 fine, £50 in legal costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
