Wisbech man caught with cannabis in Outwell told police that it was not his
A man who was caught with cannabis told the police that it “wasn’t his but knew it was there and had taken some”.
Maxwell Smith, 22, of Milner Road, Wisbech, appeared at King’s Lynn’s Magistrates’ Court where he admitted to having 0.75g of the Class B drug in his possession on April 8.
Prosecutor Paul Brown told the magistrates that police initially stopped a vehicle in Outwell that Smith was a passenger in for an unknown reason.
Mr Brown said: “He admitted to police he had cannabis and said that it wasn’t his but knew it was there and had taken some.”
Mitigating was Alison Muir who said: “It’s fair to say he was an occasional user of cannabis.
“Now he doesn’t use it at all. He lives with his dad and is in full-time work.”
Magistrates fined Smith a total of £220.
He will also pay a victim surcharge of £88 and court costs of £145.
