A Walpole Highway man has been given a two-year community order after causing £800 worth of damage at his ex-partner’s home.

Ryan Spinks, 25, smashed a television screen with his fist and threw an Xbox One games console and remote control out of the window at the property in Marshland St James.

It followed a row with Jodie Dillon about him seeing their children, magistrates in King's Lynn were told on Thursday (23).

The incident happened on January 26, 2021, when she was 24 weeks pregnant with twins at the time and was upsetting to others in the home, the court heard.

The following day Spinks sent nasty messages to his ex, including a threat to kill her.

He told police that a diagnosis of bipolar had led to him behaving that way and he’d been led to believe he could move back in. He admitted sending the messages but said there was no intention to cause her stress.

Spinks had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to criminal damage and sending threatening messages. The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

Charlotte Winchester, defending, said her client had made “significant” progress in the ensuing eight months, with the help of a support worker and no drug use. There’s an awful lot of regret and remorse for his actions,” she added.

Spinks, of Stockshill Square, was sentenced to up to 30 days of rehabilitation activities with Probation. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation.

A request for a restraining order was rejected.
