Wisbech man sentenced to two years in prison after multiple driving offences
A 27-year-old man has been sent to prison for the second time after getting behind the wheel and driving dangerously following a seven-year driving ban.
Carlos Lester, of Rose Fair Close, Wisbech, failed to stop for police in a gold Vauxhall Corsa on Elm High Road in Wisbech.
He then sped off in attempt to get away from police, who later pursued the vehicle. However, Lester continued to drive in excess of the speed limit in order to flee from police.
The vehicle consequently mounted a public footpath along Sandy Lane, which led officers to abort the pursuit, due to the risk to potential pedestrians.
Following enquires, Lester was later identified as the driver.
He's a repeat offender and was arrested in 2019 for dangerous driving that left a five-year-old girl with serious facial injuries. On that occasion he was sentenced to four years in prison and disqualified from driving for seven years.
Today, he was sentenced for dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop for police and driving without valid insurance.
Lester appeared in Norwich Crown Court and has been sentenced to two years and two months in prison along with a ten year driving ban.
