Manea Parish Council has agreed to spend £105,000 towards replacing the current 15-year-old structure, which is made of metal and wood, after hearing the annual repair bill had exceeded a four figure sum.
Part of the funding is set to come from Section 106 money - cash contributed by developers to be spent on leisure and play equipment in the village.
Council clerk Alan Melton said he had uncovered £63,000 of Section 106 money being held by Fenland District Council and in danger of being returned to developers if it is not spent this year.
The balance of the cost of the new skate park, which will replace the structure at the village playing field in Park Road, will come from council reserves and grant funding. But Mr Melton said he is confident of possibly raising enough money from outside funding to cover the full cost.
The new structure will be concrete based, similar to the surface in Chatteris and the new skate park at March and plans for the new skate park are set to be exhibited to enable users to comment and choose their preferred design. There will also be a Facebook campaign to attract as many hits and comments as possible from potential users.
Once the consultation process has been completed, tenders and construction will begin.

Councillor Steve Emery, council chairman, said: “This is a further investment into play equipment in Manea. The new skate park will be state of the art and will meet all current design and safety standards, this will benefit future generations of young people for many years to come.”
