March Golf Club is going cash-free after spate of burglaries
March Golf club is urging players, members and visitors to use card only in a move to beat the burglars.
Club chairman Baz Smith explained that, over the last 11 months the golf club has experienced three night time “break ins”.
As a result the management committee has revised club processes around its security, safety and staff training.
Mr Smith said discussions have also been undertaken with relevant agencies including the local police and it has been decided the best way forward is to make the club in Grange Road a cash-free site.
Mr Smith said:“The perpetrators are only after the cash, they think is on site. Our only course of action is to aim towards a cashless payment premises.
"An update has already been sent out to ALL members to help us to achieve this end.
"We will also be asking all visitors to help us too.
"Obviously, we won’t turn cash down but would promote that we prefer alternative payments. In this modern age where other forms of payment such as Debit Cards, Credit Cards and BACS payments are second nature, it just makes sense.
"Thank you to all that help us with this improvement”
He added: "March Golf Club is a lovely friendly golf club and regularly hosts societies, private functions, member evenings, wakes and wedding receptions.
"We welcome everyone to continue coming to the Frogs Abbey site (just off the bypass) all we ask is to consider other forms of payment when you plan your visit please."
