March school association is searching for descendants of old cricket team




The Neale-Wade Association, formerly March Grammar School Old Boys Association, is searching for the descendants of former March Grammar School pupils and teachers who played in an historic cricket match on July 11 1919.

The match was organised between M.G.S. old boys and the masters and pupils of the school to raise funds for a memorial to commemorate former pupils and staff who had been killed in World War One.

The match report lists the following players : EH.Gee, E.Johnson, I.Webb, R.Golden, W.Johnson, W. Nurse, B.Aveling, E. Phillips, T. Cane, A Burton, R. Jelly, Mr.W.Claypole, Mr.C Wilson, Mr.H Hooper, H. Butcher, K.Kemp, A. Newton, E.Young, B. Shaw, G. Newton, H.Rains and A. Fox.

The Neale-Wade Association would love to meet and welcome the descendants at a Centenary Cricket Match being arranged on Friday June 28 at March Town Cricket Club. This match will be another historic event as the Association team will play against a team from Marylebone Cricket Club. This will be the first time an MCC side has ever played at March.
