A March school has teamed up with one of the town’s biggest employers to take advantage of a new government-endorsed business initiative.

The Neale Wade Academy has joined forces with packaging company Smurfit Kappa through Business Class, which sees businesses help support young people facing social disadvantage by forming long-term partnerships with the schools they attend.

Between them, Neale Wade and Smurfit Kappa employ over 500 staff in March and the partnership is set to benefit both organisations.

Smurfit Kappa can provide essential employer guidance and technical support directly to students taking business, design technology and science qualifications, enhance the employability of young people in March, as well as getting a better understanding of young people as they enter the workplace.

Neale Wade principal Jason Wing said: “This is an exciting opportunity for our students. Working with Smurfit Kappa will only enhance further their employability as they understand the key skills and requirements of a successful business.”

The company has delivered a series of assemblies to all year groups at the academy, outlining their international business and products manufactured at the March site.

Mike Fadden, regional director for Smurfit Kappa, said: “We are really excited about the partnership with the Neale Wade Academy.”
