March take two race wins

Foster Property Maintenance were the sponsors of the 1 mile, 5k and 10k races which were a huge success raising much-needed funds for the Block Fen RSPCA animal centre on Sunday.

March AC had over 60 of its juniors and seniors competing, with other members helping with marshalling and scoring the race.

Thanks to Morrison’s for supplying the water. Winner of the 1 mile was March AC’s Billy Bremner in a time of 5 minutes 48 seconds.

The 5K race was won by Daniel Amps-Woodward (Thorney) in 20 minutes 22 seconds. The 10k winner in 39 minutes 59 seconds was Simon Oldfield (March AC).

There was also a corporate team challenge in the 10k race and the winners were Hutchinsons of Wisbech.

Block Fen would like to thank all who helped make the day such a success and would like to thank local clubs Fenland, Thorney and March AC.

Full results and times are on the March AC website. Pictured below are some of the March AC runners.

l Whilst most FRC members were supporting March AC, there were two other events with FRC representation.

In Uxbridge at the Stockly Park Cross Country 10K, Justin and Joice Showell were 57th and 206th respectively in a field of 325 in times of 44.47 and 56.04. Andre Pittock was sixth in a time of 2hrs 27secs in the Bury St Edmunds to Clare Challenge which is an 18 mile trail.

FRC hold a free six-week beginners’ course starting in June; go to www.fenlandrun ningclub.co.uk for more info.
