Marshland High School celebrate best-ever GCSE results

Marshland High School are celebrating their best-ever GCSE results with the school showing a 17 per cent improvement on last year.

The wait for GCSE results at the school was well worth it with a huge improvement across the board.

Sixty-five per cent of Marshland students gained more than five A* to Cs and 57 per cent picked up five or more A* to C grades, including english and maths.

A staggering 80 per cent of the year group achieved an A* to C grade in English, while there was a rise in the proportion of A* and A grades.

Headteacher Mrs Elizabeth Dormor said: My congratulations go to all of the students on their fantastic results.

“This was a superb year group of students who worked really hard and deserve these great results and I am really pleased for them.

“My thanks also goes to the staff who have worked really hard to help our students achieve these excellent results.”

Among the leading performers were Lissi Campbell with five A*, six As and one B, Rhian Quenby with four A*, five As and two Bs, Rebecca Coleman with four A*, three As and four Bs and Matthew Rose with four A*, four As and three Cs.

Also achieving some excellent results were Kitty Whitaker with one A*, eight As and two Bs, Juste Zaliskeviciute two A*, eight As and one C, Sian Spear four As, six Bs and two Cs, Phoebe Chapman six As and five Bs, Kieran Lambourne seven As, three Bs and one C and Hannah Brown one A*, five As, three Bs and one C.

The hard work of the pupils and staff have paid off with another successful year of GCSE results at Cromwell Community College.

The number of top grades have improved for the third year running with 34% of grades at A* to B.

The number of A* grades has doubled with a number of pupils performing exceptionally well.

The proportion of pupils achieving five A* to C, including english and maths has seen a six per cent increase on the performance tables figure from 2014.

Sixteen individual subjects were above the national average A* to C.

Fifty-seven per cent of pupils gained at least five A* to C GCSEs, including English and Maths.

Principal Jane Horn said: “We are delighted with the successes this year.

“The staff have worked incredibly hard to provide the pupils with the opportunities to do well and our pupils have grabbed this.”
