Mayor of Wisbech Sidney Imafidon thanks councillors for support at his last town council meeting in the role

Wisbech’s mayor has acknowledged the support of councillors as he attends his last events in the role.

Cllr Sidney Imafidon has been hands-on in the town, getting involved in various events since becoming mayor and visiting many businesses.

Giving his last monthly update at his last full Wisbech Town Council meeting as mayor on Monday night, he thanked everyone for their support.

He said since his last meeting, he has been to around 33 events,.

He made a speech saying: “It has been a great honour and a privilege to serve as mayor. I have had the privilege of time, so I have had time to go to all of the events I would like to.

“This opportunity I have been given, I would never have imagined in my whole life coming from the background I have come from – not being born in Wisbech or England – and to be made mayor of the greatest town on earth, Wisbech, capital of the fens.”
