Driver's incredible escape as tree crashes down on car just feet from Manea playing field and the children's play area
A driver had a miracle escape when a huge tree branch crashed onto the roof of his parked car on Sunday afternoon.
Park Road in Manea was closed to traffic while emergency services dealt with the incident, which happened outside the village park and within feet of the children's play area, where the previous day thousands of people had turned out for the annual gala.
Police along with firefighters and members of the parish council attended the scene and the driver of the car, which was badly crushed by the branch, was taken to hospital but reportedly suffered only slight injuries.
A tree surgeon was called to assess the tree, which is one of several large specimens dotted around the outside of the park, and to make it safe.
