Mobile phone use leads to surprise find for Wisbech police

Stopping a driver using a mobile phone while behind the wheel led to a surprising find for local police on Thursday afternoon.

Wisbech Neighbourhood policing team were on patrol looking at local issues and concerns raised by residents, but they were in plain clothes so may have gone unnoticed by most.

Whilst driving along Victoria Road the driver of the vehicle behind the officers' vehicle was using their mobile phone so clearly they didn’t see them.

Seizing the opportunity at the junction with West Street an officer went to have a word with the drive and notices a familiar smell. Upon investigation the officers spots some green cannabis plants in the boot.

The plants were seized and enquiries are ongoing into this matter.

A police team spokesperson said: "So today’s Top Tip - don’t drive while using your mobile phone."
