More Fenland schools hit with cases of coronavirus
The number of schools in Fenland affected by Covid-19 has risen yet again according to latest figures.
For the week commencing November 30 there were 10 schools in our area which had a confirmed case of the virus - that's four more than the previous week.
However, overall the number of schools affected across Cambridgeshire has dropped from 86 in the week beginning November 23 to 78 in the week beginning November 30.
There are 335 schools in total across the county, along with 1,207 early years settings and 9 post 16 colleges.
Figures show that 89 staff and 1,740 pupils are self-isolating as the result of Covid-19 in Cambridgeshire while in Peterborough the numbers are 39 staff and 1,328 pupils.
Figures show that in the week November 29 to December 5 there were 124 cases of the virus in the general population - that's up 24 on the previous week and brings the total number of cases in our up to December 9 to 1,404.
There have been 91 deaths registered in Fenland related to Covid-19 up to November 27.
The infection rate was 122 cases per 100,000 between November 29 to December 5 - the national rate for England was 128.
