'Moronic yobbery' at Fenland town's popular park

Supporters of a popular town pocket park have expressed dismay after vandals destroyed a bug house and started a fire.

Posting on the Chatteris Discussion Facebook page about Saturday night's (27) incident at the town's Little Acre Pocket Park, Alan Melton said: "Well here we go again, the latest episode of moronic yobbery!"

Adding images of the damage he said: "This shows the remains of the 'bug house' that gave so much pleasure to young children, constructed by volunteers destroyed by mindless vandalism. The perpetrators have also decided to use some of the material to create a bonfire. Probably these Neanderthals would like to live in a cave?"

He goes on to ask: "Why? Who? What did you get out of this? Do your parents know you do this sort of thing?

"Why is that Chatteris has so many magnificent volunteers, who give up their free time to provide nice facilities for the community, only to find that their efforts are trashed by a mindless minority?"
