Willow Pharmacy in Terrington St John was officially opened by Elizabeth Truss MP last week. The opening was also attended by West Norfolk mayor Barry Ayres and pupils and staff from Terrington St John community primary school.

Ms Truss had been working with the parish council and Dr Danesh since the closure of the village doctors’ surgery in 2011, providing a mobile unit behind the Scout hut so residents did not lose basic care. However residents still had to travel several miles to access care such as physiotherapy or podiatry. Modern consultation rooms have been added to the pharmacy, giving hope that these services can now be provided locally. The pharmacy will also provide new employment in the area, as Dr Danesh hopes to employ more young people through apprenticeships. Apprenticeships will be provided for those who have an interest in the field of medicine, but little experience of working in pharmacies.

The Willow Pharamacy , in Church Road, is open 8am-6.30pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 9am-noon on Saturdays. Dr Danesh is pictured with Elizabeth Truss MP and apprentice Rory Willis. mlnf15pm02274
