MP Steve Barclay acknowledges the ‘brilliant job’ Greyhound Trust does after opening new premises in Parson Drove

The MP for North East Cambridgeshire paid a special visit to open a new animal rescue service.

Steve Barclay officially opened the new Greyhound Trust premises in Parson Drove while getting to meet some of the pets in their care.

He said the trust does a “brilliant job in finding new homes for greyhounds”.

While greyhounds are closely associated with racing, he said they make “excellent pets with their gentle nature, affectionate personality, and they tend to need a normal level of exercise contrary often to expectations”.

As a dog owner himself, he knows first-hand the joy that animals can bring into lives, so he was honoured to officially open the new premises.

Mr Barclay said: “This fantastic facility can accommodate up to 15 dogs at a time, with the goal of finding loving homes for around 50 greyhounds this year.

“If you are considering adding a four-legged friend to your family, do consider getting in touch with the local team at the Greyhound Trust to find out more.

“You may also wish to join their open day on Sunday, July 20, to meet some wonderful dogs and chat to their team of volunteers.”

He thanked the team for the “great work” they all do.
