New blow for Fenland town centre shoppers

A Fenland town centre is facing another blow following news clothes retailer New Look is closing its local branch.

The shop in the Horsefair Wisbech will close this summer with the staff being told of the move on Tuesday (14).

It is not clear how many staff are affected by the closure, which comes not too long after the loss of the nearby Argos store, which has relocated to an out of town site.

A spokesperson for New Look, who declined to comment on why the store was being closed or how many maybe facing job losses, said: “Our store in Wisbech is set to close on June 20.

“We are supporting our colleagues from the Wisbech store and where possible finding alternative roles for them in the business. We would like to thank all of our customers and colleagues for their support during our time in the town.”
