New bus to connect Whittlesey residents to wider areas as plans are being finalised

A new bus will be running through Whittlesey, linking residents to nearby towns.

At Thursday evening’s council meeting, Cllr Chris Boden announced a new bus route to serve the community, which will be coming into place soon.

He mentioned residents will be able to benefit from a new 33 bus, which will be operating in two shifts, six days a week.

The bus will be a 19-seater and will be an hourly service from Whittlesey to Peterborough.

There is a plan for a route from the town to March and other smaller villages such as Coates, Turves, and more.

Cllr Boden said: “Unfortunately, we still have some problems with timings.” The times have not yet been determined, and the services are yet to be finalised ahead of it starting.

He added: “This is the first reinstatement for a public bus service in Turves for 20 years. This is a really significant fact.”

However, there is no guarantee yet for the actual areas going to be served – this is just a plan in the works and is yet to be finalised.
