New deputy police chief keen to deliver for people of Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire police’s new Deputy Chief Constable has said he is keen to deliver for the people by fighting crime, bringing offenders to justice and protecting the most vulnerable.

Alan Baldwin, formerly Assistant Chief Constable for Thames Valley Police, began his role on Monday (Jan 4).

He said: “I feel privileged to have this role and am extremely proud to be part of the force. I am keen to build on the great work undertaken to date to deliver the best policing service for the people of Cambridgeshire.

“As ever my focus will be fighting crime and anti-social behaviour, helping victims by bringing offenders to justice and protecting the most vulnerable in society.

“I want to be as visible as I can be and over the coming months will get across the county to meet, listen and talk to as many people as I can to gain a good understanding of the issues we face.

“I have been impressed with the work I have seen in Cambridgeshire already and look forward to us achieving further success in the future.”

Alan joined the police in 1987 shortly after leaving school. He has worked for the MOD Police, West Mercia Police and the Metropolitan Police, before joining Thames Valley Police in 2008.

He has spent half of his career as a detective and half in uniform roles. His previous roles have included Head of Crime, BCU Commander for Milton Keynes and Acting ACC for Crime. His last role in Thames Valley Police was as ACC for Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships.
