Janet Tansfield and Lucie Foice-Beard take over roles as mayor and deputy for Wisbech
Distinguished guests and councillors raised a glass to a new mayor and deputy who have now taken on their roles.
At Friday afternoon's Wisbech Town Council meeting, Cllr Janet Tansfield was elected as the new mayor, taking over from Cllr Sidney Imafidon.
Now that she has started her role, she is looking forward to serving the town.
She said: “I will take this offer upon myself and will faithfully fulfil the duty of it accordingly to the best of my judgment.
“It will be my endeavor to give my undivided loyalty to the Wisbech Town Council. I will do my utmost to uphold the traditions of mayors before me.
She thanked Cllr Imafidon for his time as mayor. She said: “You have been a friend to the town. You have thrown yourself into the role with enthusiasm, passion and energy.
“You have represented the town, promoted the town, charities, businesses, schools, well done and, on behalf of the town of Wisbech, thank you. “
Cllr Lucie Foice-Beard has taken over the role of deputy mayor from Cllr Tansfield who was formerly in this role before being nominated for mayor.
“Councillors I am deeply conscious that you have elected me as your deputy town mayor. It will be my ambition to give you my undivided loyalty and support throughout this year.”
