Primary school pupils are now making the most of their outdoor areas which have been spruced up by volunteers. Students on the Prince’s Trust course have transformed sections of Gorefield Primary School.

The 14 team members, who are aged between 16 and 25, have to complete a community project as part of the scheme and chose to help the school. During the four week project, the students planted an orchard of apple and pear trees along with creating an outdoor story telling area for the children. The team also planted flower beds throughout the school grounds. Members of the team are pictured above as they handed over the improved area to the school. Team leader Amanda Large said the school hopes to encourage pupils to enjoy the outdoors. She said: “The children were fantastic and thanked the team for making the school pretty.” If you would like to join the next course call 07919 492316. PICTURE: mfcp16mf03007
