The Mad Turk to officially open at former Oasis Bar and Grill on Mount Pleasant Road in Wisbech with Turkish cuisine

A new food venue is opening in town, bringing a “nice restaurant” and a “meeting place” to the area.

The Mad Turk will be opened in the former Oasis Grill Bar on Mount Pleasant Road in Wisbech by an owner with more than 30 years of experience within the industry.

Saglar Ahmat, who currently owns restaurants in Peterborough, has been looking in different cities and towns for the right place to open this new venture.

He said he decided on Wisbech as he thought the area was missing what this venue brings.

Saglar said it will bring to the area, a “nice Turkish meal”, with a shisha bar “creating a good atmosphere”.

He said: “I think Wisbech needs a nice restaurant and a meeting point.”

The restaurant could potentially have an events room at the back where live music and comedy evenings could be held.

The Mad Turk is currently open as a soft launch from 3pm every day but the official opening day is being held on Monday, March 3 at 3pm with Wisbech mayor,police officers and council members in attendance.
