Chatteris manufacturer Stainless Metalcraft is setting itself up for a successful 2021 with a restructured senior management team.

Ian Bannister has been promoted from operations director to managing director and will be supported in his new role by new business development director Martin Lawrence, who will also take on increased responsibility for business development across Avingtrans’ Process Solutions and Rotating Equipment (PSRE) division, and HSE compliance director Martin Johnson, who also takes on a wider divisional role.

Chris Duggan, who joined the company five years ago to manage the Sellafield 3m3 boxes contract, has also been promoted to the role of programme director, where he will take on responsibility for all projects manufactured through the Chatteris facility as well as assisting with developing the project pipeline.

Commenting on his new role, Ian said: “I’m excited to take on this new role within the business leading a hugely talented team. The business has a strong history for developing high-quality solutions to performance-critical engineering challenges and we have ambitious plans to build on this with renewed focus over the coming years.

“There is a huge wealth of experience and expertise across Metalcraft and our sister companies in Avingtrans Plc. With the expanded scope of a number of key roles among our senior management team, our aim is to truly start leveraging these capabilities to offer an expanded range of services to customers, particularly across the nuclear and medical technologies industries.

“I’m delighted that Chris Duggan has agreed to join the senior leadership team and take on responsibility for developing our projects offering across the business. He has made a huge contribution since he joined the business and this promotion is recognition not only of his achievements but also of the new ideas and perspectives he brings to the team.”

Austen Adams, divisional managing director of Avingtrans’ PSRE division, added: “While the last 12 months have been challenging for businesses across the country, Metalcraft has continued to demonstrate its ability to deliver to the highest standards for customers across a range of industries.

“The business has undergone a period of significant change over the last few years, with Ian leading a range of initiatives that have made a positive impact. I’m delighted he has agreed to take on this new role. He has a tremendous understanding of the business, combined with a clear vision for the future and, with the support of the new-look leadership team, I’m confident the business is well placed to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
