Stylist to the stars, Andrew Barton, shared his passion for hairdressing at the official opening of a Fenland college’s new-look commercial salons.

The award-winning TV hairdresser made a guest appearance at the College of West Anglia Wisbech Campus when he cut the ribbon to open the new facilities. The new hair and beauty salons form part of the college’s new £5.5 million flagship learning centre, and opened for business in September. Before cutting the ribbon with college principal David Pomfret, Mr Barton gave a speech to students, staff and invited guests. He then took questions from the audience about his career and gave advice to current students. He said: “My career started in a college in Yorkshire and I am still very proud of those humble beginnings which set the foundation for where I am as a hairdresser. Wisbech is an amazing campus and I’m very excited to see the facilities you have on offer.” Mr Pomfret added: “These new cutting edge salon facilities create an inspirational learning environment and will enable us to support the current and future workforce in the hair and beauty sector.”
