Nine people arrested in Wisbech for driving offences and fraudulent documents during action day

Nine people were arrested during a police action day targeting fraudulent document holders.

The action day took place last Thursday in Wisbech as part of the force’s Operation Foxtail - which also included 17 vehicles being seized and 16 tickets being issued.

The operation, led by PC Josh Preston, targeted fraudulent driving licences and documents being used on the road network as a method to disrupt organised and serious crime.

These action days are funded by the Home Office Invigor fund, which focuses on organised immigration crime road operations.

Nine people were arrested for numerous offences, including three counts of drug-driving, two for holding a counterfeit driving licence, one immigration offence and four counts of having no insurance.

During the day, a motorcyclist saw an illegally modified pedal cycle exceeding the speed limit and running red lights.

Officers conducted a short pursuit, which led to the rider being safely stopped. The cyclist was reported for the offences and the bike was seized.

Speaking about the operation, PC Josh Preston of the roads and armed policing team said: “This was the first Op Foxtail that we have conducted outside of Yarmouth and the roll out was a great success.

“Working in Wisbech saw some valuable cross-border collaboration with our colleagues in Cambridgeshire.

“We have witnessed some significant results which have had a real impact on those involved with serious and organised crime in Norfolk.

“It was a great opportunity to bring a number of departments together, as well as working with partners such as Home Office Immigration Enforcement and HMRC.”
