March couple's unforgettable 'wedding' surprise
A couple whose wedding was postponed due to the coronavirus crisis were left in tears after family and friends gave them an unforgettable surprise.
Adam Chapman and Katy Shroff, from March, were due to marry on May 23, but they were forced to postpone their big day due to the coronavirus outbreak.
However, their family and friends were determined not to let their special day pass by without a gorgeous surprise, so organised a socially distanced visit to mark the occasion.
Katy, who lives with Adam and daughters Charlotte (17) and Isla (2), said: “I woke up and I was really sad but I
received a couple of deliveries of bouquets of flowers from family and friends, along with an afternoon tea with champagne.
“We also ‘facetimed’ everyone which was lovely, but by 6pm I was ready to go to bed and get the day over with.”
Katy and Adam were
unaware that their loved ones were on the way to their home to cheer them up, and heard car horns in the distance.
“Mum had called me and told me to go outside, then we heard the beeping and this convoy appeared,” said Katy.
The convoy was made up of Katy’s parents, her sister-in-law, best friend and Adam’s best man.
As the group, all in separate cars, arrived outside the happy couple’s home they played All You Need Is Love by The Beatles and danced at a safe distance from each other.
Katy, who also celebrated her 40th birthday in isolation, said: “It absolutely made my day! The cars had banners and balloons on them and they were all in their wedding outfits too.
“I can’t thank them all enough.”
Katy and Adam have
rearranged their wedding for next May and Katy says an
extra year of planning will just mean their wedding is even more fabulous.
Katy, who wore a white outfit on the day under her mum’s instructions, said: “I would much rather cancel the plans and have everyone there next year safe and well.
“Yes, our lockdown wedding day was different but I will never forget it, or my birthday.
“I’m blessed with amazing friends and family and times like this make you realise how much you love and appreciate them.”
