A man was arrested on Friday afternoon after an eagle-eyed off-duty police officer spotted him carrying a BB gun.

A police spokesperson said: "A Wisbech Neighbourhood Policing Team officer was on his way into work when he saw the man walking along Orange Grove carrying what appeared to be a hand gun in his hand. The gun was black in colour with a blue barrel.

"The officer immediately contacted Peterborough/Fenland CCTV who started to view the area.

"The male was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and taken to the police investigation centre at King's Lynn where enquiries continued."
