Police officers to hold regular bike marking events to deter thieves after successful session at March train station

Last week police officers spent some time at March train station offering bike marking to anyone who was there.

Tamper-proof stickers were put on the bikes, acting as a visual deterrent to thieves.

Police said getting your bike marked is important because if the bicycle is stolen and then recovered by officers, the chances of it being reunited with its owner are higher as it will be registered to the national cycle database.

A spokesperson for Policing Fenland said: “We are going to start holding these bike marking events regularly in the area, so keep an eye out for information on where we will be holding these events in the future.”

More information on bike marking can be found on the Bike Register website.
