Once upon a time ... Fenland village has its own fairytale ending
Fenland villagers helped put these 'Grimm' days to one side with a fun event aimed at lifting people's spirits.
Paul Albutt, chairman of the trustees at Wisbech St Mary Sports and Community Centre, and his wife Jane were looking for a fairytale ending among residents of the village at the weekend and they were not disappointed.
He said: "Normally Wisbech St Mary puts in at least one float into the Wisbech Rose Fair parade, but obviously this year the event, which should have taken place on Saturday, was cancelled.
"So we came up with the idea of holding our own cut-down version and asked people to create posters, figures, tableaux anything they like really, based on the theme for this year's Rose Fair - fairytales."
It was not a competition but was instead aimed at bringing a bit of fun to village with Jane and Paul coming up with their own creation - Rapunzel in her tower.
Other creations included Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
