Open trials for sports scholarships at Wisbech St Mary as part of partnership with One Touch Football

A football club which is offering the opportunity for school leavers to obtain a sports scholarship while training each day is holding an open trial this month.

Wisbech St Mary FC and One Touch Football Academy and Education Scholarship have joined forces to run a school leavers’ post-16 option at the club’s facilities from September, where the football and practical element will take place on the club’s brand-new 3G surface.

Educational studies will also be held at the club. All learners will receive a free laptop and the course is completely free and is classed as full time education.

An open trial will be held at Wisbech St Mary on Tuesday, April 22 from 6pm-8pm for youngsters in Years 10, 11 and 12.

The club says this is a perfect opportunity for school leavers up to the age of U19 (as of September 1) to study a Level 3 sports qualification whilst training daily.

As well as this, they will have the chance to resit GCSE Maths and English if required.

The whole programme will run from the facilities of Wisbech St Mary FC and will offer a clear pathway into their adult section with gym sessions, strength and conditioning included.
