Long Sutton dog walkers urged to clean up after their pets
People who are using a town’s parks to walk their dogs are urged to clean up after their pets.
Long Sutton Parish Council chairman John Clarey is calling on owners to pick up after their animals when exercising in the town’s parks.
As the Government has eased some of the lockdown restrictions, people are allowed to travel to take unlimited daily exercise from today.
But Coun Clarey is asking for people to be considerate
He said: “We have an awful lot of dog walkers in the parks, off the lead. There are some very responsible dog owners but there are others that are a law unto themselves.
“Please pick up after your pet.”
The parish council had also taped off the play areas within the town’s parks in order to meet previous Government guidance.
Early last month, The Fenland Citizen reported that the tapes around the Winfrey Park areas had been ripped away so people could get to the equipment.
There were also issues with people using the new outdoor gym equipment before the concrete had been given time to completely dry.
Coun Clarey has reported there has been further issues in the Cinder Ash Park over a week ago.
He said the previous issues had been reported to the police and is again calling on people to respect social distancing.
Coun Clarey said: “It is not good having to keep putting the tape and barriers up as it is just a never-ending job.
“Please respect what the parish is trying to do and what we are doing with the gym equipment.
“We have spent good money to do something good for the community and let’s please leave it for the future.”
Earlier this week the Government published its “road map” which outlined its plans for easing restrictions.
The new document stated one household may in future be allowed to join up with one other as a way of easing the long-term restrictions on people’s lives.
The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) has been asked to look at the model going forward.
