Friday Bridge girl Penelope cuts her hair for the Little Princess Trust as “she does not want anyone to be sad”

A young girl has had her locks cut to help others without hair and in need.

Penelope Griffith, 6, of Friday Bridge had her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust after growing it for two years so it was long enough to donate.

The charity provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer.

When Penelope was four she wanted to “give her hair away” but she only had a bob at the time so she has spent the last two years growing her hair, just for that reason.

She managed to grow her hair to 22 inches and then gave 14 inches to the Princess Trust.

Penelope raised £862, which was given to the Princess Trust along with the hair.

Kate Griffith, Penelope’s mum, said: “Two years ago she was watching something and someone else had done it and she said ‘I would like to give my hair to those children mummy’.

“She wanted to do this as she said if she had no hair she would be really sad so that is the whole reason she wanted to do it – to help others.

“She does not like to think that a little girl or a little boy does not have hair, she does not want anyone to be sad.”
