Place on the Sunlounger for Wisbech travel consultants
When Beales closed in Wisbech back in March the Co-op travel team, who had been based there for as long as anyone can remember, found themselves homeless and sharing with colleagues out of their branch in March.
There were plans open a new store in the Wisbech Market Place, but Covid-19 and a decision by Co-Op to merge travel centres, put paid to that, leaving long standing travel experts Harriet Clarke, Kelly Hunt, and Abigail Wenn without a job to go back to as lockdown relaxed.
Step forward Sunlounger Travel - with a new branch being opened in the heart of King's Lynn and new staff required to manage and run that, a few internal moves have meant that Harriet, Kelly and Abigail have found a new home in travel as part of the Sunlounger team in the Wisbech Market Place branch, swapping Co-Op orange for Sunlounger pink.
Existing Wisbech branch manager Courtney Bunton, and her assistant manager Katie Ball, are moving to the new store in King's Lynn with a new team as they launch the first of a number of new stores planned in the region.
Sally Kirkbright, managing director of Sunlounger Travel Group, a family run business with their head office in March, said: "The travel industry has been, as you would expect given the circumstances surrounding Covid-19, a difficult place to be for the last few months. However, whilst this has delayed our new store opening it hasn’t stopped it and, when the Co-Op team got in contact with us, we snapped them all up pretty quickly.
"Experienced and qualified travel experts such as Harriet, Kelly and Abi don’t come available too often so we’d have been mad to have passed up the opportunity to bring them into the team, they all have a great love for what they do and their customers will no doubt be very pleased to know that they can continue to deal with the same people they always have, and continue to receive the very best in travel advice and service available in town.
"Kelly, who is taking on a dual role of branch manager and business development manager for the group, Harriet and Abigail will be joining existing team members Florence Plumb and Serena Moore in store from the start of September."
