Plans have been submitted to convert former clothes shop into restaurant in March
A former menswear shop is set to get a new lease of life as a restaurant if planners approve an application for a change of use.
Makbul Miah, who gives his address as 1 Gordon Avenue March, has applied for permission to convert what was Robert Goddards clothes shop into an eatery.
The aim says a design and access statement drawn up by Morton and Hall Consulting Ltd would be to bring an unused High Street property back into use.
The shop has been vacant since March 2019 and the statement says that during this time various agents have tried to market the property.
The property goes over three floors; groundfloor, first floor and basement and also has toilets and a kitchenette as well as a store room.
Part of the application will see the current shop front changed to one that sits flush with the street - like many other premises along that part of High Street, which would says the statement provide more floor space inside.
The proposal would also see the rear sloping roof, which is in a very poor condition, repaired.
Parking says the statement would be as at present as Fenland District Council's planning policy says town centre parking is not required.
* Editor's note: We have been asked to point out that originally the planning applicant gave his address on the application form submitted to Fenland District Council as that of 70 Dartford Road, March - the Diana Tandoori restaurant. However, he has no links with the Diana and the application has since been updated to show his address is now care of his agent Morton and Hall Construction.
