Cambridgeshire’s police commissioner appalled by weekend’s shocking criminality in Fenland villages

Cambridgeshire’s police and crime commissioner says he is “shocked” and “appalled” by the levels of criminality that took place in and around Manea on Saturday.

In a statement issued ahead of a meeting due to be held in Manea this afternoon, Darryl Preston said: “I am shocked and appalled by the abhorrent criminality that took place on Saturday 25th January, significantly impacting rural communities across Fenland.

“I immediately raised residents’ concerns with the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Constabulary and have instructed that a thorough review takes place.

“I cannot comment on any ongoing investigations, but I can give an assurance that I will be holding the Police to account to ensure all reasonable lines of enquiries are made and offenders bought to justice.

“Protecting our rural communities, farms, villages, and towns is a priority in my Police and Crime Plan. I will be speaking to residents, the police, and partners to see what more can be done to keep our rural communities safe.

“If anyone has any information, please contact the Constabulary by telephoning 101.”
