Police launch investigation after brawl outside March Braza Club
Police were called to a venue in March after a fight broke out with up to 100 people said to be involved.
The incident happened on Friday night outside the Braza Club in Elm Road while March Boxing Club was hosting one of its two main events of the year.
Boxers from all over the UK attended the event which had to be called off half-way through because of the incident outside.
Frank Allen, chairman of the the club, which has been awarded the Queen's Award for voluntary service, said police told them to call it a night after he was the one to call them.
He said: "It is very disappointing, these young lads have been working hard, training all year and to then be unable to have their time in the ring.
"I knew something was going on as all of a sudden a number of people got up and walked out. I went to have a look and could see there was a fight, with probably around 100 people involved, so I called the police and they came very quickly.
"It is such a shame that this behaviour has spoilt a good evening for the boxers, the sponsors and the spectators. We have no control over this kind of incident, which is totally unacceptable."
A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Elm Road, March on Friday night at 10.11pm following reports of a large fight. On attendance the people allegedly involved had already dispersed. An investigation has begun."
