Popular March Lions Gala will go-ahead later this month
A Fenland town will stage one of the highlights of its calendar year – despite fears last year that it would have to be cancelled.
Ever since the unfortunate news last summer that the March Summer Festival would not go ahead in 2024 organisers of the March Lions Gala have been planning, and on Tuesday (4) they announced that their event will be held later this month.
On Saturday, June 29, between 11am and 4pm, the Lions will be hosting a wide array of stalls on West End Park.
There will also be a selection of food vendors and fairground rides in attendance.
If you are interested in booking a stall at this event there is still availability. Stalls cost £20 for businesses and £10 for charities, and can be booked by emailing Lion Jenny Webb at events@march-lions.org.uk.
The organisers are also calling out to all classic vehicle owners - if you have a classic vehicle and would like to display it at the gala please message them on their Facebook Page March Lions CIO, or send an email to classiccars@march-lions.org.uk

March Lions Club is a voluntary organisation raising money to support local and national charities through the gala, Santa’s sleigh, and other events.
Meanwhile, March Summer Festival which would have been celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and is usually held alongside the Lions Gala, will next be held in June 2025.
This was made public last summer when the need for new committee members was announced and an appeal was made for people to step up.
Roles that needed filling included events manager, health and security manager (including stewarding), advertising and sponsor manager, entertainment manager, stage manager, and arena/show manager (classic car and dog show), and an emergency meeting was held in October to help ensure the gala’s future.
At the time Gary Christy, the festival committee’s treasurer, said: “We are missing next year’s event to allow the committee to get established and organise a truly great event for the 25th anniversary. This is a great opportunity to be a part of this amazing event.”
The Lions now meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the FACT Community Room. If you are interested in helping or joining the club or would like more information, please visit their website march-lions.org.uk, or call 0345 833 5101.
