Sutton Bridge Pet Fertility Clinic gets positive result
A fertility clinic for animals has been given the green light by planners.
Engineer Randal Lynn was inspired to start the Pet Fertility Clinic business a few years ago due to his passion for breeding English and French Bull Dogs.
Now he is helping owners from across the area and beyond to preserve the bloodlines of working and show dogs along with beloved pets.
The clinic provides a range of services for animal owners such as artificial insemination, ultrasound and DNA testing.
On Wednesday, his retrospective application for the change of use of an industrial unit in Railway Road, Sutton Bridge, was approved by South Holland District Council's planning committee on Wednesday.
Delighted Mr Lynn said: "I'm an engineer by trade but this is something I started because I have a passion for bull dogs.
"I love my English bull dogs as they are laid back and funny.
"A lot of bull dogs can be very hard to breed so we are able to provide tests which highlight the optimum time to breed so it makes a big difference to the animals and owners."
In the past,Mr Lynn's firm has worked with the owners of Crufts winners and treated dogs of all sizes, ranging from chihuahuas to Tibetian Mastifs.
One of the services offered by the company is Progesterone testing, which is a blood test which highlights when a bitch willbe ovulating.
My Lynn said: "We a customer who had tried to breed from their dog for three years without success.
"They came to us and we did five tests. They had been trying to put her in pup on day 12 but the tests were telling us it was closer to day 19 or 21.
"After three years she was in pup and they have been able to keep that blood line going."
The firm is also able to offer DNA testing which highlights any heridatory problems if a particular dog breeds.
Mr Lynn said: "We are able to recommend not breeding from a particular dog if there is a risk of heridatory problems. These are expensive dogs and you need to know that you are breeding the best."
The firm is also helping to support the introduction of fresh blood lines across the world by its artificial insemintation techniques.
Mr Lynn said: "We have sent chilled products around the world to Italy, Denmark and America."
The change of use planning application was recommended by officers for approval to the committee meeting.
In moving the recommendation Coun Harry Drury said: "This business would be a fantastic addition to the services offered in South Holland."
Coun Christine Laughton said she hoped there was a queue of customers as this was a much needed business service.
